B2B outbound examples — email, calling and hybrid
How research-driven outbound differs from generic volume outreach — across email sequences, calling script angles and hybrid follow-up flows.
Email outreach examples
Generic vs. research-driven email — three scenarios showing why the first line determines whether a message gets read.
Email example 1 — SaaS founder reaching a Head of Growth
Hi {first_name}, Hope you're doing well. I'm reaching out because we help SaaS companies grow. Would you be open to a quick call next week? Best, {your_name}
Hi Jordan, Saw your LinkedIn post on the Q2 activation experiment — the framing of "one feature, one segment" stood out. We helped a similar seed-stage SaaS reduce CAC by 30% using a narrower ICP and a rewritten outbound angle. Worth comparing notes briefly? Warmly, Maya
Email example 2 — Agency reaching a VP Marketing
Hi {first_name}, We are a full-service agency and we'd love to partner with you. Our services include strategy, content, paid, and more. Are you open to explore? Thanks, {your_name}
Hi Chris, Noticed Northwind has shifted focus to mid-market — the new case study on the healthcare cohort is great. We ran a similar mid-market pivot for a logistics SaaS. Biggest lift came from changing the offer page before touching ads. Happy to share the playbook if useful. Warmly, Lars
Email example 3 — Recruitment firm reaching a Talent Director
Hi {first_name}, We specialize in placing top talent across multiple industries. Let me know if you have any open roles. Thanks, {your_name}
Hi Priya, Saw Acme is expanding the London platform team — three SRE roles open since April. I have two shortlisted engineers currently interviewing: both with hyperscaler experience and available within 30 days. Worth a 10-minute intro? Warmly, Nora
Calling script angle examples
How account research changes a call opening — and why generic scripts get dismissed in the first five seconds.
Calling script angle example 1 — IT services firm targeting a CTO
"Hi, this is [name] from [company]. We provide IT services and managed infrastructure solutions. Do you have a moment to discuss your current setup?" — No account research. No reason for the call. Easily dismissed.
"Hi, this is [name]. I'm calling because I noticed Meridian posted three roles for cloud engineers last month — looks like you're mid-way through a migration. We work specifically with infrastructure teams in that transition phase. Is that timing right?" — Opens with a verifiable observation. Gives the prospect a clear reason to engage or correct the framing.
Calling script angle example 2 — Hybrid follow-up call after email
"Hi, I sent you an email last week and just wanted to follow up to see if you had a chance to read it." — No new information. No reason to continue the conversation.
"Hi, I'm following up on the email I sent about Meridian's EMEA expansion. I wanted to add one thing that didn't fit in the email — we recently worked with a similar team on the Amsterdam office buildout. Five minutes to compare notes?" — Builds on the email contact. Adds new context rather than repeating the pitch.
